With a privileged location on one of the most prominent corners of the city center, the building occupies the corner of Andes and Soriano streets on a plot of land that has more than 50 meters of frontage. In an area that has become the place of choice for the most modern hotels and trendy restaurants in Montevideo.

Next to the Rio de la Plata, Barrio Sur, Ciudad Vieja and Palermo are the oldest neighborhoods in Montevideo, cradles of candombe and the rhythms that today characterize Uruguay and the place where the greatest artists took their first steps.

Today they are slowly becoming a living cultural center, the soul of the city with colorful old houses that mix with recycled buildings that respect their original structures and new buildings that are gaining a place.

A fusion of art, candombe, roots and the smell of the sea, the Barrio de las Artes offers an immense amount of activities to carry out places of recreation, sports and cultural interest to visit and other details that make for an excellent quality of life. 

 

The project presents a contemporary language not only in its materials but in its spatial proposal. Exposed concrete slabs have been used for the main rooms and the kitchens have been located so as to integrate them into the living-dining areas. The ALMA BRAVA color palette  The design includes glass, exposed concrete, black aluminium frames and Corten steel-coloured aluminium shutters.

The arrangement of the shutters on the exterior plane of the façade allows the expansion space to be visually and functionally integrated into the interior. These shutters have specially designed perforations that create a play of light and shadow both during the day and at night. ALMA BRAVA was designed to reduce the usual energy and water consumption in residential buildings.

A rainwater collection system has been implemented, which is stored and used to irrigate the landscaped areas. All carpentry has solar protection systems and air chamber glass for thermal insulation. A complementary solar water heating system has been implemented.

In turn, the installation of photovoltaic panels has been planned for the generation of electrical energy for the common consumption of the building, while the lighting of balconies and common spaces was resolved with low-consumption LED luminaires.
